What Is the Advanced Initiation Program?
|
| |
| The Amherst Hockey Association offers new skaters a place to
develop hockey skills while also learning game play rules and concepts. These
skills are then applied in full-ice scrimmages and in games against teams from
other instructional or in-house division programs in the area. The Advanced
Initiation Program's primary objective is to help skaters have some fun while
developing a sense of the game of hockey. A main goal is also to develop hockey
skills and experience so that skaters and their families may advance to the AHA
Travel Teams where they can further develop their individual and team-based
hockey skills (available to all ages).
Skaters are evaluated at the start of the year, and are placed in groups that
best match their ability and age. The Advanced Initiation Program has divisions
- based on the ages and number of participants, determined after the
evaluations. Players play against other teams that match age and ability.
The Advanced Initiation program is open to skaters who are 9 and younger.
